History

SO WHAT’S THE RUBY LOUNGE ALL ABOUT?

“Rock ‘n Roll is the most brutal, ugly, desperate, vicious form of expression it has been my misfortune to hear””.

So spoke Frank Sinatra back in the 50’s but I’m damn certain Frank would have gotten just the kind of kick he was partial to out of a night at Ruby Lounge.Sure, the quote would be the same but this time he’d be smiling.

The Ruby Lounge is a bespoke 350 capacity live music venue (& 500 capacity club space) bang in the heart of Manchester’s Northern Quarter and a venue Manchester has always deserved. A place for all that brutal, ugly, desperate and vicious Rock’n'Roll but all delivered withinthe kind of joint that doesn’t expect people to live with the lowest common denominator - quite the opposite.

The Ruby Lounge is flash without being showy. Lived in without being beat up. Rock’n'Roll without being clichéd. Timeless but not tired. The Ruby Lounge nods from the 21st century to all those perfect 1950’s Lounges and to a time where live venues gave a damn about the people enjoying them. It’s a perfect hang out with a loud-as-hell PA and a venue with all the trimmings.

Expect live shows and bands most every night - big, wild, loud, thrilling, smeared & sultry live bands. Great Rock’n'Roll bands - no filler.

The Ruby Lounge also opens real late with a selection of superb club nights stretching into the evening plus we’ve one hell of a great bar that won’t break the bank.

Frank of course also said… “Alcohol may be man’s worst enemy, but the bible says love your enemy”.

So here’s what you get folks…

* A 350 capacity live music venue (that opens into a 500 capacity club) with a reasonably priced bar & a 4am liquor license.

* An awesome Turbosound live PA rig with all the trimmings plus a separate 40k club system.

* Full venue aircon throughout (and yeah, we actually turn it on).

* Becks Vier, Boddingtons, Guinness and Strongbow on draught plus a mighty range of bottles, spirits & specialty beers.

* A great looking chill out lounge area plus pool table.

* And much more besides including…

Bar offers, real clean toilets, cash machine, secure cloakroom plus door & bar staff with a smile thrown in.

It goes without saying (but I’ll say it anyway) - we are really proud of this place.
